Information Commons Study Rooms on the 2nd floor of the Public Square

Location: The Information Commons, 2nd floor of the Public Square Building on the Rockville Centre Campus at 1000 Hempstead Avenue, Rockville Centre, NY 11570. ***There are currently THREE study rooms available: Rooms 273, 275, and 277. Room 271 is no longer a study room.***

Capacity: The maximum occupancy of all study rooms is 6 persons.

Equipment: Touch-screen computer with internet access, whiteboard.

STUDY ROOM POLICIES

  • Study Rooms:

    • Are open whenever the Public Square Building is open.

    • Close briefly at approximately 10pm for cleaning.

  • Groups:

    • A group is anyone reserving and using the room.

    • Can be 1-6 persons.

  • Personal Belongings

    • The Information Commons is not responsible for any personal materials that are left unattended by study groups. Please take precautions to ensure the safety of your personal belongings ie. purses, computers, wallets, keys, and other materials. Information Commons staff cannot hold/pass along any personal materials ie. books, book bags, computers. The Information Commons does not take responsibility for theft, damage, or loss of personal materials. Any unattended personal materials will be reported to Public Safety at 516-323-3500. 

  • Terms & Conditions

    • The maximum occupancy of all study rooms is 6 persons.

    • All group members must be current Molloy students.

    • Study rooms are to be used for academic purposes only.

    • Food is not permitted in the study rooms.

    • Noise should be kept to a level respectful of your neighbors in the other study rooms.

    • Study rooms cannot be reserved for Tutoring Services sessions. (Tutors: please talk to Kimberly Havens for more information about available tutoring spaces.)

    • If you won't be using a study room you reserved, please cancel your reservation at least 2 hours in advance by clicking on the Cancel This Booking link in the e-mail you received so that another group can reserve the room.

    • If a group is late, their reservation will be held for 15 minutes before the study room is given to another group.

    • Groups must check in at the Information Commons Desk at the beginning of their reservation.

    • Groups must check out when their reservation has ended and return any equipment or supplies borrowed to the Information Commons Desk.

    • If a group violates any of these terms, they may be asked to leave before their reservation has ended.

 

RESERVATION POLICIES

  • Reservations:

    • Are required Monday-Thursday, 11am-7pm.

    • Can be made up to 2 days in advance. Example: On Monday, you can make a reservation for Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday.

    • The full names (first and last name) of all group members must be included when making a reservation.

    • Reservations can be made for a maximum of 2 hours.

    • Groups can reserve study rooms for up to 2 hours per day and 6 hours per week.

      • A group may make two 1-hour reservations for one day.

    • Please make reservations in advance, if possible. Reservations must be made at least 1 hour in advance of the start time. If you wish to use an available study room less than an hour before the desired start time, visit the Information Commons Desk in person, or call 516-323-3932.

    • Reservations will be canceled if a group doesn't arrive within 15 minutes of the scheduled start time.

  • Check-in Procedure:

    • Groups using a study room during reservation hours must check in at the Information Commons Desk before entering the study room.

    • If you do not have a reservation, please visit the Information Commons Desk to confirm availability before entering any study room.

  • Equipment:

    • ***Room 273 currently doesn't have a touchscreen computer, but it will be replaced soon.***

    • A wireless keyboard and mouse and dry-erase markers may be borrowed at the Information Commons Desk. A valid Molloy ID card is required to borrow these items.  

    • Laptops may also be borrowed for a 2-hour time period when IT staff are available. Both a driver's license (or equivalent) and a valid Molloy ID card are required to borrow a laptop.

  • Check-out Procedure:

    • At the end of your reservation time, please go to the Information Commons Desk to check out and return any equipment or supplies borrowed..

Reservation policies are in effect Monday-Thursday, 11AM-7PM, during the Fall and Spring semesters. At all other times, study rooms may be used on a first-come, first-served basis.

Laptop Computers in the JET Library
